Luan Nio is Sr. Partnerships Director at IDEO.org, based out of the San Francisco studio. In her role, Luan co-leads IDEO.org's portfolio on Gender Equality to address systemic inequalities faced by adolescent girls and young women in East Africa and South Asia. Her focus is on facilitating multi-partner collaborations and guiding innovation processes to work toward the completion of school, access to first job or income, agency and choice in health and financial decisions, while also addressing harmful gender norms. Luan connects with many different partner organizations to put the pieces of the puzzle together on how we can best solve wicked problems hand in hand.

Luan has close to 15 years experience across the for-profit, non-profit and social enterprise sectors. Prior to IDEO.org, she worked at the social venture lab Enviu where she spearheaded the opening of their US office and led programs to develop business models for financial inclusion, sanitation and plastic pollution. Luan started her career in management consulting at IBM. She is a biotech engineer with a BSc and MSc cum laude from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Luan speaks five languages, some a bit more rusty than others. As a true Dutchie, Luan loves salty licorice and herring by the tail with raw onions.
